21.08.14

Our bright red arms go to show how wonderful our day was today. It's easily in my top three best days in Korea so far.

We didn't trust the clearing skies so we packed raincoats and umbrellas for our day on Udo, a tiny island a long bus ride and a short ferry away.

Once we arrived we rented a couple of bicycles and took off around the island. It was pretty stunning. There were a lot of jagged, black volcanic rocks everywhere. It was so cool to ride along with the coast on one side and the farmland on the other. There were horses chilling and so many picture spots.

All we ate was ice cream, but that was absolutely fine with us. i felt like a child again and Mum was letting me do whatever I liked.

The best part of the bike ride was actually a wrong turn. We ended up in the wrong place but it was completely worth it. The trees made an arch over the road which curved downhill towards a cute blue and green village. I took a hand (just one - don't get too crazy!) off the handlebars and whizzed beneath the trees. It lasted a mere few seconds, but it was magic.

On our way home we found the Jusangjeolli rocks on the coast of Jeju. They were incredible. The lava from an eruption formed perfect square and hexagonal shapes as it cooled. I don't understand the science of it, but seeing those shapes in nature was mindblowing.

Eaaaaasily one of the best days, I tell you.

The lady was being a bit risque but Mum's plan backfired.
