04.05.14

We were all set for attempt #2 to Windy Hill today and again we walked up the hill to try hail a taxi. After being rejected by the first one we decided to ask at another pension for a number to call a company. A man very kindly arranged it for us. Communicating wasn't the easiest, but we got there in the end and the taxi arrived as promised.

Unfortunately we hit traffic even earlier this time. Determined, we told the driver to persevere, which he did for 45 minutes. We made it within walking distance of Pebble Bay and got out, having given up on our Windy Hill dreams long before this point. Our driver was quite relieved and quickly turned around and zoomed off.

As we sat on Pebble Beach we watched kids and adults skip rocks across the surface of the water and listened to the waves gurgle as they washed upon the uneven shore. Then we ate the spiciest kimchi chiggae of our lives and all cried a little bit.

We split from Kirsten and her mum and went to the main town on the island to book tickets for the bus tomorrow. We explored a bit and found Homeplus full of goodies to buy. Lucy and I got too excited and bought $20 worth of dried fruit for our deserted island adventure. Totally worth it.

We returned back late and played MASH and danced to the Kpop songs on TV in our pension.
I got kimchi in my eye and it went a bit crazy.
